Boston Bob took my cousin Rex (RangerK9), myself, and another friend of ours Caleb,a veteran of Iraq like Rex, out to Lewisville yesterday evening.
I must say, that this was the best Hybrid action I have ever been a part of. We pulled up the shallower upper side of a 25-35ft. ledge around 7PM and had almost instant screen blackout. Started catching fish consistently, mostly all 4-7 lb Hybrids with only a few Sandbass mixed in. We then spotted a surfacing school of mixed sandbass/hybrids closer to shore.
So Bob, in excellent fashion, sets us up outside the school to slab for the Hybrids. We could have caught sandbass all we wanted but said to he** with these sandbass we have hybrid blackout on the screen! So its about 7:45 by then and we start slabbing TNT's with a dropper fly above it and begin the most insane 45 minutes of Hybrid slaying I have ever been a part of. At one time, all four of us were hooked up with Hybrids, and several times when three or two of us were hooked up.For about fifteen mintes there, I don't even remember what was going on it was so intense, I was on the bow the whole time with a bird's eye view of the action and started going on pure adrenaline. We landed several doubles and caught at least 4 over 8 lbs with the biggest of the day, about a nine lber, belonging to none other than the man himself, Boston Bob.
To put in in perspective of how awesome this guy was yesterday, there was a time when three of us were hooked up, including Bob himself, Bob had the trolling motor under control keeping us on the fish, a net under one arm, reeling in a fish with the other, and managed to land all four fish that were hooked up at that time. (One was a double hookup)
All in all we ended up with about 50 hybrids boated with as many brekaoffs due to double hookups of 6+lb hybrids, crossed lines, etc.. Insane action!!! All four of us had sore arms after this!
We also caught about 4 catfish, 25 sandies, and a Drum, the dreaded curse that Rex carries was the last fish landed at about dark.
I must say, if you want an unforgetable trip on Lake Lewisville, book a trip with Boston Bob's Guide service now, while the gettin's good. Bob is a great American, an excellent fisherman, and an all around standup dude. He will put you on the fish and hopefully you get to say "To he** with these sandbass, lets hammer the HYBRIDS", like we did yesterday!
Bob's big one of the day, a solid 9lber.
Four nice Hybrids landed at once!!!
There I am, perched on the Bow.
Rex and I grinnin ear to ear with me holding the "Dummy Fish"
(Notice the Rod under my arm with a fish on)
And the Man of the Hour holdin up another nice one!
Thanks Bob!
