Record Blue Cat is 38.60 Lbs. Caught on November 2009. There is no Long Nose Gar Record. That Record is open for the taking.

TPW has a public certified scale section on their web site along with instructions on how to apply for records. Good luck.

You'll prolly kill the fish taking it to get weighed. You would be better off getting a set of certifiable scales that way you don't have to kill a fish just to get your name in the record books.

Plus #2. Totally Agree. My scale is portable and I am very proud to say that all my records have been released to fight again!.

Bass Pro has some very good digital portable scales. You would need to take it to a scale dealer who is certified to calibrate scales. They can Calibrate it for you and they will give you a certificate of Calibration. A portable scale is the only way to go. You always would want to release a trophy fish.
