Goodnightchesty,

Not to put words in BAF's mouth, but I'll try to answer from my experience. BAF fishes that lake more than I do and I'm sure he knows more about it, but the I-35 boat ramp (under the freeway) is the only access I know of (except for the spillway but that wouldn't be a great place to launch...everything is down stream from there).

I launch my boat from the I-35 ramp and paddle up stream to the spillway...it's not a long paddle. Then I usually let the current take me down stream as I fish. I catch 90% of my fish from the spillway to the boat ramp. Most of the time I never even leave the no wake zone. Best part of that small area...plenty of gills to be caught and the bigger boats avoid that section (too shallow for them)so it's nice place for the smaller boats.

There is an area at the south end of the lake called Schuman beach but it will cost you $5.00 to park and launch it is near the dam and lilly pads but that area tends to be where the big boats are most of the time. If you go early it can be a really good spot.

Good Luck I will be out there fishing tonight and in the morning

Many thanks Gamedog. Its funny, I've spent a morning or two right there fishing the shallow side of that island just wading around. Of course in the AM you have to watch for the snakes swimming back and forth between the island and the other banks.

I saw a fella pull out two really nice bass one morning on the far side by the old mill or whatever that place was.

that's what marines are for. i fish that area alot but has been hit or miss lately. i finished the mods to my canoe so look forward to traveling around some more. I really want to go fish the upper guadalupe above canyon lake for catfish. But I have done good on the upper guadalupe fishing for panfish in the past lots of brush, cypress stumps, not lots of boat traffic perfect for paddlecraft. Its an area that doesn't get lots of panfish pressure that is for sure. limited to no bank access

I've thought about hitting that area near rebeccas creek, but I haven't looked at the water level that direction, I heard it was very low currently. I plan on some Upper guad action in the future though.

If you put in at the boat ramp off tanglewood it is still open I will let you know for sure on Sunday I will be in the area. Where the river comes in at Rebecca creek it is bone dry last time I was out there 2 weeks but as far as I know the river is doing ok for now

Nice Rios. Looks like the first one is still guarding a nest. Good report.
