Fished Joe Pool Lake over the weekend. The lake is full of sandies. difficult to put a limit together. most fish in the 6-9 inch range. caught lots of large mouth bass schooling with the sandies also 10-15 inch range. two days fishing was able to fillet 36 total. lots of fun the kinds had a blast! Lloyd Park Camping was fun - and the fish fry was a good time for all. all fish caught on bomber A style crankbaits off the creek channel.

Joe Pool has not been much of a lake, but in the last year or so the sand bass population has exploded along with the carp. But when the sand bass and carp are hitting the topwater, the largemouths are right underneath.

The problem is that they don't reproduce that good. They would have to stock them every year.

Wonder what that would cost? could be done ! (its done privately on other lakes. What about an alternative food scource like a fast growing multipling brim?

i have fished Joe Pool since 1999 and it has always been full of small sand bass and lots of LMB. i haven't ever caught a carp or catfish though.

I agree with Hyrda Sport----Pool has always been full of small sandies and lots of largemouth. While it was never a "big fish" lake, it seems to me that when the grass was growing well all over the lake, more "over the slot" fish (bass)were caught. Most seasons during that era I would boat at least 25 to 30 overs during a normal season and the last couple that has dropped to less that 10. Lack of shad? Maybe, but I would blame the low fertility and the lack of cover more. JMO.

Fished Joe Pool again Tuesday July 5th - PM - Sandies all over the place surfacing throughout the afternoon into the late evening. lots of fun for my kids, caught well over a 100 fish. Most fish caught around the creek humps to the West of the Bridge out by Lloyd Park.
