Try fishing on a public (or ptivate hotel) pier at night, lol..Etiguette is not even listed in those folks vocabulary. IF you catch a keeper fish, you will most likely have a swarm of people on top of you and you will be hard-pressed to find shoulder room to fish after you take your keeper off the hook. If they don't come over bumping shoulders, then they will definitely be casting over your line trying to get in on the action. It drives me nuts. I try to avoid the crowd and usually wait till after midnight to go out or head out around 3 am and fish till after daylight, most folks are sleeping at those times so you can have the pier to yourself. Party boats are sometimes the same way. We typically station ourselves in the back 1/4 of the boat, preferably right near the back corner. Don't know why (other than more chum and blood in the water from the back) but we always seem to catch more than anyone else on the boat when we get those spots. But, God forbid if it's a semi-slow day and everyone isn't hooking up fast enough. Just as soon as the deckhand gaffs your fish and you are unhooking your catch and getting rebaited, some idiot will try to relocate to your spot. Again, drives me nuts, mostly because my wife and I like to fish next to each other and I can assist her if necessary. To me, it's just rude behavior by some people and totally unacceptable.

Sad to say in my experience water skiers and jet skis are not a problem anymore. It is "fellow" fisherman. I guess everyones definition of personal space on the lake or ocean is different. I try to be respectful and alway go for more then enough whenever possible. As far as anchoring/trolling if your less then 1.5x a good casting distance, or can carry on a conversion without raising your voice your just too close in my opinion. Up on plane I like to give as much room as possible. Most probably are not trying to be rude it is just they don't know any better.

It's to the point that i don't fish on the weekends. I avoid the crowds. If i absolutely have to fish on a weekend, it will be a Sunday late afternoon. There is no respect out there!

karma sucks, but most, not all my encounters have been with quides or yaks, but no big deal, what goes round.....
