My fishing buddy just took a job and moved to Alvin. He wants me to come down to fish with him. Usually, when I go to the coast it is to Port Aransas area, so I know nothing about Galveston. I've been reading the other posts about Galveston about where to fish, but I have a few others myself.

Are you allowed to set up a tent on the beach anywhere down there and camp out for a few days?

Do they require a parking permit for the beach like they do at Port A?

Are there areas on the bay side that are accessible that it would be safe to use a small boat? 12-14 ft. 3 1/2 hp.

How are the mosquitoes? They get terrible at Packery channel on the bay side.

I appreciate any info you have on the area. When I go camping and fishing, I don't stay in motels, I go camping and fishing.

I've set up at SLP for the weekend with no problems on the surf...same with the bayside...we do it all the time with gen and lights....not sure about taking a small boat around that area since the currents are rough...i wouldnt advise it....as far as mosquitoes, they are pretty tamed around there if you have some deet....i've fished some places at night where it seemed like deet was the flavor to be savored and had my a** tore up !!!....

rod and reel is wanted up and down the coast for "assault with a deadly weapon" on the hardhead community
