Going to Amistad next week and i hear the hydrilla is growing. Having never fished it before, I need to know how you guys do it. Weighted worm right through it? Try and flip under it? Fish the edge of it? Im new to bass fishing, so i need a few pointers. Thanks.

frogs, buzzbaits, wacky worms, weightless sticks or texas rigs with a very light weight. those would be my choices, throw all around and into the grass until...boom.

p.s. I like the poppin' frog around the grass best.

Cut with her golden oars the silver stream,
And greedily devour the treacherous bait.

I have never fished Hydrilla, but I would imagine that you would need a small rubber band to tie it to the hook. It would probably be better to try to fish a bait in the hydrilla. Might work a little better. sarcastic

I wouldnt throw a weighted worm on top of it, you will pull out and pull off 20 plus pounds of hydrilla off a 1 pound fish. Fish off the sides and in the pockets, and be ready to bulldog em up as soon as the hook is set. If the hydrilla is a little under the water,..I would try a slow topwater, ie torpedo, zara spook, floatin frog, and if it seems like fish are really active, then use a faster topwater, buzz bait etc. But rule #1, dont let the bass dive down into the hydrilla.
Best of luck!!!

We did well throwing a square bill over the top of it. Also, a t-rig will cut through it ok if you use a small enough weight. I was throwing a 1/4 oz and was doing just fine.
