Does anyone know what this is on pelican island? there is a road to go in, I went in and no one at all in there, no signs at all anywhere, dirt road was smooth all the way, went all the way around it to the top let corner and fished on the X, and came from the road from seawolf side, caught some very healthy fat whiting, sandys, and HUGE Gafftop, not sure what this land is for or if we can even go in, I mean no signs anywhere saying private property, keep out or anything. hooked

Is it reserved for the military?
I've no idea, either.

Found out its suppose to be made into a ship terminal, for cargo boxes and ships to come in and bring stuff, not gonna be good for us, gonna mess up the water more than it already is with all the traffic coming in and out!

The article is from July 2010, is there any construction going on currently?

Looks like all they've done so far is purchase the land a decade ago and began a conceptual study in 2009 which means a minimum of 3-4 years before they even start to consider a construction plan, IF they do at all with the other ports being built up in the area.

If I am not mistaken that should be the Levi right next to A&M Galveston campus on the left side of the road coming onto the island. I remember maybe about a year or 2 ago it use to be one of the best Off-roading spots that everyone use to go to. But be careful now because its all private property and they don't allow anyone back there. They use to have cops watching the road to Sea Wolf stopping anyone who tried to get back there.

I fished off the beach directly in front of the concrete ship....caught the blacktip on a huge chunk of croaker....I was using my 11 ft surf rod, so I was able to get the bait pretty far out there since that thing casts a mile....I caught the drum on a calcutta/castaway rig just soaking dead shrimp

hit up the beach about 6 pm...my buddy broke out the gen and lights....we were catching huge whiting, sand trout, and of course hardhead....then all of a sudden his girl hooked up on something big...drag was screaming and line was peeling off the reel.....after about a 5-10 minute fight, she landed a 24 lb drum....big ole monster..not sure how to post pics on here....if anyone can let me know i'll be glad to post...fished till about 11 and didnt hook up on anything worth writing about...all in all it was a good trip despite the wind we've been having....cant wait for it to lay down so we can get on the surf!!!..tight lines, fellas!!!
