I wanna get some RPM/top speed numbers for my boat to see if I need to get another prop. My boat has a jack plate in addition to the trim. When starting out, should i have the jack plate all the way down, then start trimming up? Or have the jack plate in the middle, or top, then start trimming up and go to WOT? Thank yuo all in advance.

Most important is prop shaft height in relation to the pad pending on the make model of the boat.
Check with Steve at Steves custom props.

go to my website. click on prop shaft measurement. set your height and start testing.
really would help to know what boat/motor/setback,etc. you have.

Its a Seapro sv 1900 with a Merc 125 on it. Can you please explain what you mean by setback? Thank you for your previous responses. Right now is has a 19 pitch on it, but i was told I may need to replace it with a 17. The boat will mosly be used at a lake that is 4700 feet above sea level.

Set back is the depth of the jackplate or the set back off the transom. Is it a manual or hydraulic jackplate? What is your current top RPM? If it is a hydraulic jack then you would start on low setting for holeshot unless in shallow water. Since your rig is not a speed demon I would be looking more at holeshot and mid range performance myself.

if your running a 19p now. and you were told you'll need a 17.
at that elevation you may need a 15p up there.
