Saw about 10 water snakes around the Coppell city park lakes the last few days. Did a little bank fishing at dusk down by Athens TX recently and almost stepped on a huge copperhead! It was coiled and struck at me. It was a life changing experience. Now I am afraid of snakes! Bank fishing will never be the same again. Be careful out there and consider wearing boots when walking along a lake or creek.

It's one of those thing you just have to be aware of. No need to be afraid of them. Just be aware that you are in their domain and they are there.

snakes are our friends do not harm them if possible, you can tell if hes posiness or not by letting him bite you, if swelling persists, and you feel faint, try jumping sideways , , and that may help you in missing the next bite you get because your not very bright,

musta been that 17 degree winter that's driving them
Unless you are wearing a grass skirt and sleeping in a ditch and eating only road kill, you too are part of 'the problem'.

Just give those timber rattle copper water mocassins plenty of room and run like heck away from them. Those are pretty bad lil dudes. I almost ran on water away from one last time at rc. He was about 9 inches long and gettin away from me too.

I've never seen so many copperheads anywhere in Texas as I have around Rowlett Creek. They are more aggressive than moccasins and like to stay in paths for some reason. Most snakes will do their level best to get away from you. There is no reason to go apey with fear and get all waller eyed.

I always wear my rubber boots on the bank. That way I can wade into the water aways, and when I get back to the porch I just slip out em. And the guys on Swamp people are so cool looking wearing em especially the white ones.
