A buddy and I went to fling some flies on a private pond near Tyler, Saturday. We started out snagging some nice bass, and some dinks, right off the bat. I started out using my 5wt., flinging some bass flies and having a good time. The bigger bass were slowing down as the morning progressed and I downsized my fly to a mylar minnow (with a #6 hook) and continued to catch dinks and large perch.

After we had a lunch break I decided to break out the 2 wt. and tied the mylar minnow on to it. The second perch I snagged took a dive and that when things got interesting. I thought he had run under some roots because he just wasn't coming in. I moved around to pull in another direction and the line startd comin to me but was pulling hard. I thought some debris was coming with him. When I got him close enough to the bank I could see the tail of the perch protruding out of the mouth of a bass ( I figured the bass to be 2-1/2 to 3 lbs.). As they got closer to the bank they again tangled up in some roots in shallow water so I called my buddy over to see this. Needless to say, I waded in to capture this "Kodak Moment".

What a great picture!

By any chance, did the Bluegill survive?
