Fished it last weekend. 2 of us boated about 20 keepers with a few hawgs thrown in. Probably caught somewhere in the neighborhood of 100+. We fished 15-25 foot of water close to some shallows. We marked gobs of suspended fish in 25-30 foot of water. Didn't fish much shallow water since we had so many marked out deeper, but that don't mean they weren't there. I just don't think the females up are shallow yet though. Especially with this cooler weather we've had this last week. Surface water temps were starting to break 60 though.
We fished at night which is the only way I have much luck for crappie on that lake. I have several opinions on why this is but that's my take on it anyway. If you're going to fish the daytime, expect to move around..... a lot, cathing a few at each move.
Jigs outperformed minnows about 10 to 1. Pretty typical for that lake in the Spring. That trend should reverse when the temps get high this summer. You might try fishing with bass minnows if you're going to use live bait. Should up you're keeper ratio a bit. If you're just fun fishing crappie minnows will catch you plenty of unders.

Trees mostly, it's harder to NOT fish trees on AH. I'm sure in any other lake the fish would have been much shallower. However being that AH is a canyon lake there isn't a whole lot of shallow water unless you get back up in the creeks. We did fish Gobbler and a couple others and did catch some keepers in them but for the most part we fished deep water close to shallow flats. Alan Henry is a strange cat. Common sense approaches that work on other lakes often won't apply to it.
