We will be coming to the market within the next couple months with a craw style flipping bait.. We already have some prototypes and have been putting them to the test.. We are going to do some more tweaking on them and get them fine tuned before releasing them.. So here is my question to everyone out there..
What size and style hook do you typically use when flipping or using a flipping style bait such as: Beaver, Paca Craw, Chigger Craw etc..
This bait will be a little unique in the way we will suggest to rig it to increase hook up ratio.. Would a bait, in the same size range as above, that worked best with say a 5/0 hook deter you??

Depending on the size of the body I use either a 3/0 or 5/0. All Owner's EWG.
You know the old saying
If it floats, flys, or f___s it is always cheaper to rent!
You have to decide which is more important.

5/0 is fine for a flipping type bait that is similar to the Beaver 420

Gambler makes a badarse hook with the heatshrink tube on it. I use 3/0 or 4/0, and they are strong as anything I've ever used.

3/0 or 4/0 strait shank with shrink tubing to hold the bait in place How about reposting how to do that. Where do you get the shrink tube(what is it called at store), how do you put it on, and how do you cut it to hold the bait on? Thanks

Mustad Pin Hook that has a "bait keeper" for big fliipin baits in either 4/0 or 5/0 does the job well.

I use a 4/0 off set round bend hook. I usually use as big a hook as I can, so a 5/0 would be good.....I think!

I tried the Trokar and Gamakatsu 'flippin' style hooks and just don't like them. I tend to stick with a Gamakatsu EWG or EWG Superline in a 4/0 for most of my flipping of creature baits/plastic craws. I 'tex-pose' it also versus truly 'texas rigging it'.

I like a 4/0 or 5/0 off set worm hook for flipping. Wether I use a 4 or 5 depends on bait size - For the Paca Craw I prefer a 4/0 for a brush hog I would go with a 5/0.
