The lake used to be full of them in the eighties. No restocking and LMB fisherman pressure tells it all. SandJohnny can shed some real light on the HYBRID issue on EM, it is his lake.

11.9 lbs caught in a three string tourney at the club many moons ago. Back in the late 90's, caught two or three each trip. Strange thing, was always on the hottest days of the summer about 2pm in a secret spot. Keep sending gifts Keith we enjoy em.

You are right David I looked it up. Don't know where I got my info. You know what they say that the mind is the second thing to go.

And, the first thing to go? Help me out I'm not far behind you. Goose told me the record was caught in the tourney by a female angler. We all know that he is always correct... EM has never been stocked with hybrids according to TP&W. Talked to one of our GW's a couple years back. He thought for sure he had helped bring fingerlings in. Maybe the LMB's ate em? Yes, it's Johnny's lake. Need permission from him or Larry to fish. If not, expect a visit from Gweedo.

When the first thing goes you don't have anything else worth remembering - is that a clue?

Me and a buddy caught 30 nice keepers Friday. We were trolling in about fifteen foot of water, using white crankbaits with yellow bellies.

I'll wait till they pattern up and I can slab them. Ever since Johnny taught me how to find and cast or slab for them I've saved the trolling for offshore down at the coast.

Hey if that's your way then do it. I just like to anchor up and slay the fish in one spot. Johnny kinda spoiled me when he taught me how to slab them.

It's when you find them on the graph and you can drop a slab down and jig it up and down to catch them. Sometimes you can drift and slab but I prefer to anchor up. I've also thrown a buoy over and used the trolling motor to stay close whilst Slabbing. Look at this website. It's the only slab I use and it's the best. slabs.

Thanks, appreciate the info. I enjoy learning about stuff like this, one of the great things about this forum. Do you work the slab like you would for crappie, with small movements up and down? I don't currently have a FF, so this sounds like even one more reason I need to get me one!

I haven't really fished for sand bass since I have got a good fish finder. So it was more chasing schools and trolling. I win some of those old uglies at the eagle mountain catfish tournament.
