Everyone I have talked to about the Talon says they cant keep the screws in the talon... Major problem if your running down the road and it falls off... Sinkey?

Since I have never used one I will ask. Dont the installation bolts go thru the transom? I would at least use self locking nuts on the mount bolts

most people intall them with a bracket that bolts to the jack plate and all three people that I have talked to have tried loctite with the same results... I do know that when you trailer the boat the talon wobbles alot more then the powerpole does, probably because the extra weight at the top of the talon..

Talon has new brackets coming out in 30 days that will fix this issue. They are also changing the bolts. Hang tight they will be great when they get the right. No pump in your boat and better warranty.

I have had a power pole since may 2008 without major problems, just a few minor issues: wouldnt go back up problem in switch up front, have had small needle point hole in hose, problems with their slip lock fittings, leaking between the pump and reservoir tank.
As far as performance it has been outstanding and mechanical sound.
The staff at power pole has addressed my needs and returned all my calls promptly.

Never used the Talon and used a Power Pole for 2 1/2 years. My concern with the Talon is it operates of your batteries. Trolling motor in our windy state, electronics, and other accessories draw those batteries down enough as it is. Yes the Power Pole has a little hydraulic pump installed, but in a days fishing I consider that an advantage since your not drawing the batteries down everytime you use it. The Power Pole has proven itself to be a great tool.

Hasn't anyone ever heard of loctite? My 2nd one, actually had locktite on the bolts, and still vibrated loose. The new bracket is definately the solution. Minn Kota sent me the new hardware, and this will work. If any of you are fishing Champs this weekend at Fork and want to check them out, let me know.

The Talon and Power Pole units themselves cost the same retail at $1449, the brackets are also about the same at ~$150-160. The power pole cost goes up with the remotes and harneses as well as the extra hours of labor for install.

I have a question on the power pole. Can you lower it part way to get it out of the way for the person on the back deck?
It looke like they would get in the way sometimes but if the power pole is able to be stopped before it reaches the bottom of the lake then it would be a better option for me.

I fished the BASS Central Open last week and on day one when the wind blew 30mph, I saw a boat with two Talons on the back at weigh in and one was bent forward and the other was bent backwards. It was not a good advertisement.
