Hey Chevy,

You can try Buffalo Bayou in George Bush Park?
You cant use it in the ponds though.

Yeah that's an idea but unless the water is really high for some reason its a steep drop off to the water so it'd be hard.

I took a canoe trip around Buffalo Bayou last spring and caught a whole bunch of channel cats. Nasty looking cats though, wouldn't recommend getting close to eating anything coming from there

Yeah I thought of that place but I use to go there alot with friends but cops don't like people back there and have gotten in trouble for driving my truck back there before so I don't think I'm willing to risk going back there again.

I live there and occasionally ride atvs back there. I have heard about these cops just have not run into them. See people back there all the time.

Check out - http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/fishboat/boat/paddlingtrails/coastal/buffalo_bayou/media/BuffBaymap.pdf

looks like there are plenty of places to put in.

I would also check out the Brazos river, it crosses I-10 not 30 minutes from Katy in Sealy. Call the Brazos River Authority for access points - 888-922-6272.

Less than an hour from Katy in Columbus is the Colorado River - http://www.howellcanoe.com/uploads/community_crt_one_day_float.pdf

Austin has some pretty sweet paddling opportunities as well.

In general check out - http://www.texasoutside.com/kayaking/texas-kayaking-trails.html

If you ever get as far west as New Bruanfels or Comfort let me know and I'll turn you on to some sweet fishing on a beautiful river, the Guadalupe.

When it's all said and done, chances are, more will be said than done.

Was looking at the Columbus paddling trail which looked fun. I've been to the entry point before. This is probably a stupid question but would it be possible to have a shuttle take me and whoever I'm paddling with back to my truck at the entry point? Or would it be better to take the canoe off the truck at the entry point have someone sit with it while someone goes and parks the truck at the exit point?

I live here in Columbus when Im not in school. Floated the trail many times. Either way you choose, Columbus is a pretty small town. Wether you choose to have somebody drive you back or not its only gonna take like 2 minutes.

Is it possible to paddle back up to the entry point or does the current get to strong?
