I have a good friend that recently retired and bought some fishing equipment. He lives in the HEB area and wanted to know any good places to fish from the banks on Grapevine. I don't have a clue - I've never been to Lake Grapevine.

Can anyone provide any suggestions that I can relay to him? Thank you in advance.

I usually go to Murrell Park, it's free to enter. There is a lot of bank access and I usually come away with one or two...lately it has been slow. If you can walk it you can park at the enterance to Twin coves but it is a good half mile walk to the lake but there is a lot of standing timber, which is good.

I'll pass that on to him.

oak grove park is a good spot for sandies as well. i think the road is sand bass rd once you go into the park. used to limit out on sandies there on ghost or glass minnows that i seine for from the lake. i fished off the bottom casting out about 50 to 100 yards or so. really early morning or night time is the best time to go out there.

+1

Lots of good trails to walk to different fishing areas. Fish the main lake point by the boat ramp that is closed or the main lake point by the picnic tables near the open boat ramp. If you can find the high water ramp that is not open yet, fish that cove.

In regards to the sandies at Oak Grove and Meadowmere:

Are they there all year round? I imagine that with the coming spawn they are about to be over on the west side of the lake near Marshall/Denton Creeks.

Just asking since I now live very close to both of these locations.

Thanks.
