Went to the tail race and the lake today looking for bait...didn't find much! I need a bigger, heavier net! Think i'm gonna break down and get a good one. Watch, I will and I will hang it up first cast! lol

Checking out the water...hoping I won't hang up on anything:

Giving it the good ole' college try:

Video on the water in 50ft of water...

I bought a new net from Jjason, it is a Lee Fisher Net, a Joy Fish, with 1 1/4 lb per ft weight X 5/8" holes, really nice, sinks fast and isn't quiet as heavy as the Baitbusters, you might give Jjason a hollar, he might be going to order some soon, he can get them cheaper than we can go buy them somewhere else!!!

I just bought an 8ft net with 1.5lbs of lead per foot and 3/4" mesh...I think those shad in deep water see it coming and swim away from it.

8ft Diameter or Radius?

Just letting you know for future posts, 7'0 radius is the largest allowed in Texas, are you sure it wasn't a 7'0 radius???

We caught a few small ones by the gills in my 5/8 net, but it worked good for the larger gizzard shad!!!

It looks like a "4 ft" net he is holding it by the top and it comes up to his belly in the first pic.... he's good thumb

The good thing about the 3/4" mesh is that you won't catch any shad smaller than 6 or 7 inches. The bad part is you won't catch any shad less than 6 or 7 inches as well. My 1/2" mesh net will gill 4-5 inch gizzards. And yes... an 8' (radius) net is not legal.

FYI,The texas law says 14' diameter not 7'radius. Most 7 foot nets will not open to 14 feet diameter. So measure your brand of net. You might could legally use an 8 foot radius.

That old hole is hit and miss...i've loaded up there before. This time we caught a few.

The net I bought is 14ft. diameter....it's a 7ft net...not an 8ft. It had been a long day and I was tired when I wrote that last night. lol
