I went to my local Academy and saw some yellow and black Tournament Choice rods for $12.00 each. They seem heavy somewhat heavy duty. The store had three left. Should I assume that they had three left because: 1. They are cheaply made and cheap? or 2. They are made well and just a heck of a price?
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Good rods. Great rods for the price. Will handle almost any cat in the water.

i use them! good rods for the money. I think the pro-angler cat rods are better but they are more expensive. But you can't go wrong with the yellow T.C. rods!

Make sure you get the yellow ones, the black red and green ones are not stout enough for blues!!!

+ 1 tc yellow = cheap and sturdy, that's why I got a few but if you have the $ go with pro angler the tc yellows will stand up to a big fish than you would think ask Tom I think he pulled in a 50 pounder with one

I have caught blues up to 67 pounds on them and a bunch over 50 on them. Have 15 of them and have yet to break one. I am taking one of them to Wheeler to see if it will hold up to a triple digit LOL.

Good rods for the money. Not as good as pro angler rods but one third the price. Let's see, 3 TC yellow rods for the price of one Pro Angler, yep!

I've fished with these rods since about 2001 and never had any problems with any of them breaking. Like Gary(cathog) said, they will hold up to most fish around here if he can use them on the lake he fishes. I however am slowly too being pulled over to using the Proangler rods because they feel more sturdy/a little bit longer and have more eyes. You can't go wrong using either ones in my opinion.

I bought a used Abu 5000 at southwest today for $40.
Very good condition, I'm gonna match it with a TC rod tomorrow.
