If you want the lake to yourself, fishing on Thanksgiving day is the ticket. Had a chance to get on the water Thursday and did OK with the numbers with 15 to the boat but most were in the 2 pound range with a few in the 3 to 4 pound range. Took advice from "thedeuce" and stayed shallow and fished weightless. Fished all day in Four Fingers except for the first hour in the morning and about 30 minutes that afternoon when I went to the North Shore boat ramp area with no results.

The morning started off very windy so I spent the first hour fishing around the South Shore ramp. Got a couple on what turned out to be one of two of the baits I got bit on, a weightless T-rigged Kinami 5 inch watermelon/red/black (their version of the watermelon red)"senko" style worm. I did get bit using a watermelon colored Big Bite Trick Stick, but I felt more confident using the watermelon red color until I used all that I brought. I did find that the Kinami was not as durable as the trick stick, but it weighs a bit more and I was able to stay in contact with it in the wind better than the trick stick.

When I went to Four Fingers, the wind pretty much limited me to the two larger coves and shoreline on the west side. I was able to get bit using the weightless worm either tight to the shoreline behind the grass line or right up next to the grass on the outside. I did try a weighted T-rigged worm, a frog and shallow crankbait but no bites. I did get a couple to the boat on what turned out to be the bait that gave me the larger fish, a chartreuse and white double Colorado spinner bait.

At around 1pm the wind started tapering off and I moved over to a pond dam on the east shore of the left arm of Four Fingers. I had tried it earlier in the day and got blown out of there. There was lots of bait being chased and I picked up several pretty good sized ones with the weightless worm and spinnerbait. After that I moved over to the west side and worked my way back towards the mouth of Four Fingers. Just before I left for the day I pulled up on a point just as a school of bass were chasing bait up against the shoreline. It didn't last long, but I did get two of my nicer sized fish throwing the spinnerbait.

As it turned out the patterns that worked was a spinnerbait when I was out on the points and the outside point of grass in "deeper" water and weightless worm in the back of coves or inside the grassline along the shoreline. My best 5 were probably in the 12 to 15 pound range and the water temp was 73.

fishnbuds, give us a report when you get back. Curious to see if the high pressure and blue bird skies has moved them out of the shallows.

today was tough. only boated 7 fish from 8am til 5pm. Not sure where the fish are at this stage. we had a hard time locating any big groups of fish. we caught 4 of our fish in four fingers on Hags Tornado's (redbug), T-rigging the grass edges with a 1/16 weight. I caught the final 3 fish at dusk throwing a Rico Popper (shad) between the ramp at Calliham and the main lake. No real photo-opp fish today, but all fish were solid 2-3 lb fish + 3 lbs of grass which made each one feel twice as big....so it was a fun day! the fish that we caught in four fingers engulfed those Hags. But we lost several short strike/bumps on the popper.
