That's clear,we are going next week, let us know how it is.I think most people used to fish the last 1/4 mile before the end.

Before it close. Most people were fishing near the end like you said. But I like it near the middle or just a little further. I hate it when theres a bunch of people near me since most of them cant throw the line straight and my line end up getting tangled.

Plan on going Wednesday, used to go out and drift Dollar Reef along with Moses Lake. Have fished under my Par Can's near the end of the dike. Most times have done good..
I understand there will be no more street lights. Will it be opened all night?

IMHO it's big news. Whether I decide to fish there or not, the big news is that it's another move to normalcy after Hurricane Ike.

I'm always catch and release, except for cut bait.

Heres the report today in TX Dike for those who wanted to know.

We started fishing around 6 am and ended at 1:30 and none of us caught anything at all. Theres a big mackerel but it got away when near the rocks. Afterward only a few bite here and there but none actually got hooked.

The water were brown and hardly any wind at all.

They rebuild the road and took all of the street light out. Other than that theres a lots of police car patrolling and it cost 5 dollar if not resident.

It was a clean slow 25mph drive to the end. No structures other than the concrete day camping area. (Maybe 5 or so)
Dredging from the East side of the Dike to the west side of the dike continued. Slowly filling in more area. Has been clouding up the water on the East side past the end for about 250 yds. Saw folks catching Gaftop and Sand Trout.

Two ramps on the left. They re-concreted the small ramp on the right side. thumb Still would be hard to get in and out but still saves time.

Was the free Lion's Club meal OK? Had to get back home and couldn't stop for it. A nice gesture by the local Lion's club.

I couldn't resist giving it a try today.I got there around 1:30.Drove to the end to see how it all looked. It was clean. It still drives me crazy every time I see the garbage that fellow fishermen leave behind. There are plenty of trash cans and there was a cleanup crew working the dike.If only everyone would police there spot when they leave.
Any way, stopped at the end threw out my cast net caught some shad and a black drum.Threw the drum back,I want to get him on a hook not net him.On my second cast I got snagged.Switched to a popping cork but caught nothing else. This was at the end where the pier was.I guess they didn't get all the debris off the bottom. Then I drove about 300 yards back down the dike and started to fish again.First fish was a Spanish mack.then 2 more black drum then a 16 inch red and then a 24 inch red.Threw my cast net out for some more bait and besides the mullet I had 2 sand trout.I must of caught 20 of those angel fish looking thing, the ones with polkadots and not a single hardhead. It was a very good day fishing sitting on the rocks. Also for those worried about the $5 entry,It's only Friday Saturday and Sunday and it's per car.Boyds Bait camp has all you need and the prices were right.I left around 6:45 and was back in Katy by 8:00
