I see Mary's mentioned alot on these threads, but of all the cfs I've eaten, The Paraiso in Zapata wins as of now.

"The Paraiso Special" is hard to beat. Huge CFS with cheese gravy, taco, rice and beans. Damn good. I used to eat there 3-4 times a year when I hunted out of Nvo. Guerrero.

Rocket Cafe just east of Waxahachie is one of the best I have had. I use to live in Waxahachie and Rocket Cafe was and still is my family's favorite place to eat - especially the CFS!!!

I haven't eaten there yet, but I always heard the The Barbecue Inn on Crosstimbers in Houston was great. I always liked Mason Jar & Pappy's (both on the Katy Freeway). They may not be the best, but they aren't bad.
Do any of you old timers remember two good CFS places in Austin? I'm referring to Bean's downtown and The Stallion on N Lamar. Used to love those places until they closed.

I'll vouch for the goodness of the fried Chicken at the BBQ Inn, but I can't say that I've had the CFS there.
I've been going there since I was knee high to a grasshopper. It was my Aunt Emma's favorite place to eat. She's been dead ~25 years now so I've been going there for many moons.

There used to be a place in San Antonio called Al & Mo's that had the best CFS and homemade onion rings. We would scrape together pennies as poor college kids just to eat that miracle on a plate. Unfortunately they closed own in the mid 90s' for some reason. Alamo Cafe had pretty good CFS back then, but haven't tried it in years.
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

Its even better for breakfast with eggs and lots of tabasco on the gravy. Good hangover cure too... proven field tester!
