Have a late report from last week. Took the family down to Jamaica Beach for a few days to relax at a canal home. A friend volunteered to bring his 33 ft donzi down so we didn't have to fish from our smaller boat which was a blessing. On Thursday we headed out of Bridge Bait around 8:00. At around 5 miles out we spun a prop on the port motor so we turned around and slow rolled back to the ramp. After doing some hustling, we had a new prop on there and we headed out for some close action. Was really slow. I tried to convince my friend to head to some numbers I had but he wanted to hit close in rigs and we only caught trash with the exception of two kings and one bull red around 35 pounds. Friday we were back at it and left Bridge Bait around 8:00 again. We headed 40 miles and made the first two stops with nobody home. Again I tried to get them to hit a wreck I have numbers for but they wouldn't. Finally on stop three at some rocks we found em. We quickly had a limit of snaps, a few kings, a couple of grouper, one dodo and more sharks than I care to have. We cleaned the boat up a bit and headed in. Back at ramp by 3. Was my sons first trips offshore other than on a party boat. He did great. Caught a king on the first day and several snaps and a grouper on the second. Also had several UFO's that I am sure were grouper that got all of us in the rocks.

On the first day no. We didn't see any but on the second we did see quite a bit. The current is ripping out there so it wasn't in really big mats but there were definate rip lines. We tried to troll for just a minute on one descent sized patch and did no good. Didn't even see bait. We did however have a small patch come by the boat while on anchor that had some chicken dodo's on it. We caught one and hooked another then they were gone.

Sounds like y'all had a decent trip. Always fun for the kiddos when fish are biting.

I know. Just wish I could have gotten the driver of the boat to listen more. Is fishing.
