hooked three gar today, i lost the first two but landed the last gar. Also caught a few hardhead catfish, i was fishing for gar fish then had a flounder go after the bait. I notice that most of fish have a good relationship with one another. Sometimes flounder follow small redfish around looking for food. In florida many fish follow eachother looking for food. The gar were fun to catch, i spent most of the day fishing for them. They are grouped up in a good spot, so i caught many fish. I also hooked onto 2 gar yesterday. I also caught a 100 lb sofa, which was the biggest thing i caught in bay. I believe it fell in bay after hurricane Ike, i first thought i hooked onto a log but it started to move when i was pulling on it. Then i thought it was a gator but it was a 5 ft long sofa from bottom of shallow bay. So i ended my day with 3 gar, 2 hardheads catfish, and one 100 lb sofa. Tomorrow i am heading to a near by pond to fish, so i will go after the shark, or whatever it is later on sunday or monday. I'm still surprised i caught that sofa, its biggest thing i caught in my life! Have fun fishing out there guys and good luck!

I am coming down to the Galveston area in mid jun would it be better to fish clear lake or Galveston jetty's? I am not to familiar with clear lake but looking to fish from shore and need advice on where to go. Looking for Read's speck and maybe shark for fun.

clear lake has a very great population of redfish inshore and flounder. I have caught few specks, i went fishing at the freshwater lake by school in clear lake, the water is crystal clear but i only seen minnows in the water. I have not seen any bluegill or bass, then went to the bay and didn't get a bite on lures. Going to try today, so good luck!

went fishing today caught a 15 in mullet and 14 in shad. I think its some kind of shad but good size. I caught catfish mostly today. Alot of people come with boats, canoes, and kayaks are all over the bay during the weekend. I fish my regular spots on weekdays without so many people. I used lures by the park area today off nasa road 1 with no fish caught. I already caught a 10 lb redfish off the flat by the park four weeks ago. I thought there would be more redfish around but i guess i was wrong. The shark is still moving around somewhere in channel. I fished for 6 hours today.

I went fishing 5/24/2010, caught some catfish, pinfish, mullet, and shad. I seen a gar in shallow water but i already caught 5 gar last week so i started feeding the fish. Gar are not that smart but if i feed him every few weeks the gar should grow to 4 ft. I was feeding the gar then a trout came from side and hit the bait. I ran out of bait so i just left the area.

bign, i caught 45 redfish in bay and 7 other guys caught redfish. I think about 65-80 redfish were already caught in nasa road 1 bay. Theres still fish in bay but its not in large numbers, the trout are very few 20 in fish in bay. I only caught three fish 20+ins in two years, one last year and two this season. I heard on the other side of clear lake, it has better redfish in larger numbers over there. The most redfish i caught in one day fishing off nasa road 1 is three redfish. So i don't catch 6+ redfish in one day fishing in bay. There is more likely better spots somewhere else. Keep searching and you will find your seasons best spot.

bign its a great time to fish for reds, during the weekday, w/o too many people. I think a guy caught a 48 lb black drum over there, his pic is on the web. One guy i was meeting during early season, fished over there and caught 8 redfish during fall. He was cold with his other friends but people in other buts asked if he caught anything, then he showed them 8 redfish on a stringer. They said, Oh! well then..... He used live shrimp, but there still might be some bull redfish. Bign just because 80 redfish were already caught off nasa road 1 bay, doesn't mean every fish has been caught. Redfish are everywhere in clear lake, i fished in every section of nasa road 1 bay and caught redfish. I seen guys catch redfish in spots that don't look like they have those fish there. Its just a matter of finding the spots. I'm sure you will have a great day out on the water!

Its not a hot spot like Galveston, mostly the locals fish over where i live. Its very hot outside today, the bite was off where I was fishing. I caught one gar and one 17 in catfish, some crabs and that was about it. I called it a day at 12:31 pm because it going to get more hot in few hours. Bign I am usually the only guy fishing the area, when I used to fish lake fork and many other bass lakes, I was only person out on the water. You should have a great time today, might be better to fish deeper though. Bring lots of drinks and food.
