clear lake channel is in clear lake, most all other spots are scattered around galveston bay when you go out from kemah. Most all kinds of fish you will catch redfish, sea trout, and flounder are everywhere in lake and bays. Just have to find good spots to fish. I fish almost everyday here so, i get alot of time on water. Today the fishing is good and looks like no rain is coming so long hot days of fishing ahead!

Yes sir, go right back under that bridge.

As far as the shrimp nursery goes, my understanding was that you could not do it on the side of the road I am advising you to fish but you could do it on the side where the boat ramp is. I sure could be wrong because I was just going by what others who fished there a lot told me. Please check with local Game Wardens to be sure. I would hate to tell you something that got you into trouble.

You know there is some good fishing in the area, you just have to pay your dues and spend time down there and you will figure it out. Remember, tide movement is critical to constant success in saltwater. Go fish when the water is moving in or out and your odds of catching fish go up dramatically. Find the closest spot on the tide table listing and then figure out what the difference is where you are actually fishing.

I can not remember exactly where this other spot was but it was great for flounder and the occasional redfish. If you left the boat ramp I told you to launch at you would head acoss the bay kinda angling to the left at about 45 degrees. It was a small bridge that went to a private marina. You could not drive under the bridge from one side to the other if that helps. There are rocks along each side of the bridge down into the water. We would free shrimp right up in the rocks and along the bank leading up to those rocks. Again when the water was moving it was on for flounder. I wish I could give you exact location but I just can not remember.

Hope that helps and good luck.

This is the link to the site. You can enter location, and time frame you want the info for. http://www.saltwatertides.com/dynamic.dir/texassites.html

You will have better luck when you see four tide movements per day. The water is be moving at the highest rate at about the mid point in times between low and high tides. The water will slow down and pretty much come to a pause at the times indicated on the chart. As I stated before this is general time for a general area. You will have to learn how your specific fishing area relates to the info given in the chart. Example a time given for tides at the North Jetty in Galveston is not when the tide will be moving at other areas in Galveston bay like Sea Wolf park.

If you notice this Sat the 22nd the High tide is a t 7:18 in the morning and the low tide is at 11:19 in the morning. So the water will be running out most of the morning. However if you notice the difference in tide level is minimal from .9 to .6 so it is not going to be a real strong tide movement. However if you look at the first tide movement on the 25th it goes from a -.2 to 1.4 over a longer period of time. The fishing should be pretty good from about 4:00 am to about 9:00 am. This is how to pick your times to fish to put the odds in your favor. Of all the advice I can give you this is the most important to start with. The other is that on this part of the coast a SE wind for several days will produce the best water clarity.

rtp i fished that spot next to marina with rocks. Its very nice area, has crab traps in shallow side. I caught a 3 ft snake yesterday, it was all red and black stripes. I seen the snake two years ago in bay, and my friend seen it three weeks ago. I was fishing by my self in grass area. Then this huge snake swims right up to me and stared at me for 5 mins.It was less then a foot away from me, luckly I was on the bank. I hooked on to the snake but he got away. We have alot of lizards, and i heard there used to be gators taken out of bay. There are still some gators off valdos and armound bayou though. I didn't find the young bullshark, but i believe he is moving all over inside the bay. The chance of runing into one shark in bay is low but i hope i can catch him. Those charts are awesome.

yea what RTP said i would check with the gam warden about casting for shrimp at that boat launc/park on nasa rd 1, like i said before ive seen them give ppl tickets for doing that and two of them have told me thats it is a nursery and illegal to do that anywhere in that park area, now as far as anywhere else in that lake/small bay im not sure ull have tocheck with the warden on that part.. like Ale said there are gators out there ive seen them numerous times along with another Thing im not sure what it was but it wasnt a gator but swam on top with head out only and was dark in color, i coulndt see it that well since it was dark but looked really creepy, anyways... you'll get used to it and soon enough you'll learn how to fish them spots all with time just be patient...you can also launch out under that big kemah bridge and fish a bit in the bay and also with time you'll find your own honey holes too............srry yes i know i have bad writing skills lol

way2slickrick i seen that fish on monday, it looked to me like a bullshark when it jumped out water 3 ft in air. Its big what ever it is... and black, i believe its covering alot of water in the bay. Were did you see that fish swim? i found him deep inshore by a homeowners pier. That fish was bigger then the dog, i'm guessing 4-4.5 ft. Today i was fishing for gar and hooked on to one. It was good size gar but they are difficult to catch. You need the sharpest hook you can get! I used the wire leader and everything, but this is the 7th gar i lost in the bay. I already hooked onto this fish twice now, and the snake i caught yesterday swam in same area i was fishing for gar. way2slickrick do you think the fish is a shark, cobia , or something else? It is a jumper though, and can move pretty fast if it wants to.

Ale, I think it is highly doubtful what you saw was a cobia. They are an offshore fish that occasionally show up at the jetties. Maybe just a shark. Is everyone having as much fun as I am?

rtp, i think your exactly right! I think the shark moved in front of bay by the park off nasa road 1. On monday the shark was deep inside the bay, so its more likely it moved to front of bay to feed. This fish was very hungrey and jumped 3 ft in air to get a big mullet. I'm going to fish for the shark tomorrow in front of bay. I will use lures and mullet to try to catch that shark. Its young fish so i believe it will hit anything if i get the bait near him. I heard that sharks get turned off when tide stops moving, but bullsharks are unpredictable fish.

i was throwing the cast net on the small pier on the back side of the parking lot where the sailboat launch ramps are( right beside the bridge), i was at the very end of the lil pier ad i heard something moving in the water, i turned ad saw it just swimming with its head above the water, at first thought it was a gator but the head was small and kind of snake-like looking,i know it wasnt floating cause you can just see the head, i say the head was about the samesize as of a 5 yr old child, after i watched it swim right by me ( about 4ft from where i was standing on the pier) i turned my light and hine it at it but it went under before i could get a good look at it,,, now the fish you are talking about ive never seen it really before but i know of the splash you are talking about, it isa pretty big fish bt what it is im not sure a ive only been able to see light glimpses of it, but this has been over about 5 months since ive fished there so that fish or wutever it is you and i are seeing has been there for awhile now..second to last time i was there i got spooled by somethng that bit n a mullet head i had on a circle hook just by the nasa rd 1 bridgethat goes over that lake,, try a mullet head as bait out there maybe you'll have luck with that catching whatever it is

The fish might have been a bullshark, the fish tried to jump at a dog by the neighbors pier. After reading some stuff about bullsharks they are known to eat dogs. I was wondering why the fish jumped so close to pier with the dog on it last monday. I think it tried to grab the dog or mullet near pier but the fish made a huge jump for either. Its amazing what this fish will eat, mullet, tarpon, catfishes, menhaden, gar, snook, jacks, mackerel, snappers, stingrays, juvenile sharks, sea turtles, dolphins, crabs, shrimp, sea birds, squid, and dogs. The fish was very, very hungrey to jump 3+ ft out water for food. I hope i can find the fish before it moves out of the bay or something. When the fish landed in water it was like a grown 6 ft man diving in water, huge splash. Thanks way2slickrick

yea just try a mullet head a pretty big one, an the ret of the body without the tail and try to keep the guts etc intact on another line out, scrape some scales off and cut some non deep lines into it, i dont think u have to worry about it leaving that bay it seems to be its home...until someone catches it
