Fished Fayette from 2:00 till dark today and managed to boat a whole two fish. After reading all the posts lately I mainly concentrated on deeper water, pond dams, road beds, baffle dike, and a hump or two. I even tried to flip some of the deeper timber and tried a wacky worm shallow. I've had some outstanding days at Fayette this spring but I always struggle this time of year. The water temps were from 90 to 94 degrees today. I guess I should sour up some grain and take up catfishing on the lake until next spring.LOL

When that water gets boiling those Fayette fish start schooling like I've never seen on any other lake. I've been out there on a few summer days and all over the lake topwater action like I have never seen in freshwater -- don't give up so soon.

Jpost is right about that. give it another couple months and it will be crazy out there. We went yesterday and boated 25 fish up to 4.5 lbs. We fished deeper water with drop shot zoom finesse worms and magnum shakeyhead worms shakeyhead style. We caught alot of small fish but had a couple decent one mixed it. We drove all around the lake watching the electronics and when you find them chasing school of shad the action is great.

When does this genrally start happening? We got in on the action last year in September.

I'm not a Fayette expert, but I think it's when the water gets hot enough (high 90's?) it drives the shad and the bass up top for oxygen -- just a theory.

I had good luck on Fayette on Friday. My buddy and I caught over 20 on top from 6:30 to 8:30 and finished the day with over 85 fish between us only 6 fish under 2 lbs. We did fish 13 hours but it was worth it. 7 over 5lbs couldnt break the 6lb mark though.

And now you guys see why I'm frustrated. I knew somebody was catching em despite the hot water and bluebird day. Great catch and I just wish I could have been in your boat instead of mine. LOL

I think miker was drinking and saw multiple fish one the line each catch. Or mabye he was counting my fish everytime i brought one in the boat. just kidding, it was a fun day friday. only problem was the wife was so stoked that i had to take her sunday and we only managed 30 or so. she keeps kidding that there was no 85 fish on friday. guess thats why they are fish stories.

WHY IS IT THE WIFE ALLWAYS CATCHES THE BIG ONE
