Ok just had a friend install a jack plate on my 2000 ranger 520 it has a yamaha 225 My friend owed me a favor He set it up really high. I took the ranger to the lake and unless the jack plate is all the way down and the trim is down all the way I cannot get on plane even at that i have to ease on plane it will not plane on full throttle it seems as if the transoms is getting sucked down. Anyone have the same setup or can tell me how to fix this I think just lowering the jack plate my do the trick but need to be sure going to be taking my boat to the BASS central open in a week and need to get it setup correctly before then I think he just needs to drop it but if anyone reading this has the same boat and jack plate i would greatly appreciate info on jackplate mounting holes and motor hole positions thats working for you.

measure the prop shaft height, and set it at 3" below pad. assuming that 225 is an HPDI. if it's a standard gear case you'll want to be at 3.5" below pad
most of the time i mount the engine in the 3rd hole of the engine bracket to the plate.
