Has anyone been to Proctor lately? Was wondering if the crappie had moved shallow yet?

I jigged a lot of places Sunday at Proctor that should have had crappie and nothing. I tried shallow weeds, rock banks, under the bridge, around trees up the Leon, along the dam, 1-10 feet. Either they are not biting at all or I just don't know where to find them.

Procter is weird this year. Have not been able to find the quality fish we are used to. Sooner or later we will locate them.

I talked with some of the gate attendents and they said they have seen a few cought of the fishing docks and some at the dam but they have not turned on yet. Hope to go this Friday. I'll post how we do.

I'm going back this weekend. I'll post results. I'm hoping Proctor is just running late in turning on.

Went last Friday. Pretty slow. Did not find many crappie shallow yet. Is it still early? WhalerBill did you do any good this past weekend?

I passed on fishing and went to Cabelas and Academy to stock up on lures and buy downriggers for my boat. I'll be going next weekend and will post results. I'm hoping it is still early and the good fishing is yet to come.

That lake is on the rise. Fishing will be off for a while.

Hey friday86, is the lake muddy. I called to Sowell creek today and the gate atendent said it was not muddy there. He said they only had around 1 inch of rain.

I fished with fridays86 last weekend. It seemed to be muddy or off-color everywhere but sowell creek.

Well as I headed home Sunday the Leon by Deleon was rolling pretty good. I doubt the main lake will get muddy but the Leon neck did not and will not have the normal Proctor water stain. All of the fish we caught were at Sowell. I know some were caught around the clay banks. The few females were not buldging with eggs. I expect late spawn activity in a little deeper water.

Thanks for the report friday. We found the same thing last Friday when we were there. The females looked to be a ways off yet on laying. Did you find them up the creek or around the bridge?

Around the bridge. I thought the females looked like they were heading the other direction. Not a good sign.

When you say around the bridge, are you talking about the concrete bridge supports? I tried jigging around them close to the shore in shallow water and around the deeper ones with no success. That was a couple of weeks ago. I'm trying to learn the crappie fishing on Proctor but being new to the lake it has been a challenge. I have caught crappie on a lot of lakes but never been skunked as much as I have on Proctor.
