First time I've heard that. There are several ways to mount them, jackplate or directly to transom.

That is the first time i have heard that too. I think that it will be more than stable and secure if its mounted properly

yeah i didnt believe it either about rattling off, but for those who have one when someone is fishing on the back deck is it hard for them to side arm cast with it stickin up?

No they will not vibrate off (is that even possible?)
They are secured with bolts and lock nuts (and 5200 for mine).
If they could come off, I would have lost mine by now, especially in some of the junk I have gone through.
Powerpoles are great if you fish 6' or shallower. They are useless if you fish deeper (unless you sit in shallow and fish deep or just use them at the ramp).
I still find new uses for mine. A few weeks ago I was trying to vertical fish some trees and couldn't get positioned. I ended up lowering the pole between two submerged branches and tying the TM to another tree, problem solved.
I use it for fishing grassy flats and just about any lake that has shallow areas. You will be amazed at how much harder you work an area (and your results) once you can stick to a spot without leaning on your TM all day. You no longer swing through spot casting to obvious targets like stickups. You instead use your graph and find humps and lake structure changes, and you position, drop the pole and fish it. On a shallow flat, if you hook up on a windy day, you often have to fight the fish and the TM to keep the boat off the bank. With the pole, you just drop and you are not going shallower than about 6 feet. You might drift, but once the depth changes, you will stop.
I like it (obviously). I use it more than the trolling motor. If I had to pick only one, I would lose the trolling motor. That's how good it is.

Love mine. We put it on ourselves and saved $500. As mentioned lock nuts keep it from vibrating off.

I have had mine for about 2 years and use it every time out, I am on the water 3-4 days a week and have used the devil out of it with no problems. I agree it looks like it will shake off if you look at it while running in rough water, but i have checked bolts to make sure they were still tight an have never had to tighten one up. You will be amazed at how many ways you will use it. I just remembered i did have a bracket break and powerpole guys had me one the next day 10 min. later i was good to go.

I'm on my second boat with them and no problem. Mine have bounced off enough trees and docks to become pretty scarred up without any effect on their function.

make sure the hyd b-nuts are tight. seen a guy at conroe a month earlier who could not get his power pole to retract back into the boat. he had to pull it up with rope and tie it off. he had a b-nut come loose and fluid had leaked out.

Use mine as drift control on Amistad. Put em down in the grass and let them drag. Great summertime draggin technique.
Taking 5 to the weigh-in occurs when opportunity meets successful execution of one's preparation.
