I am having 2002 Corolina Skiff, the hull is flat it won't handle good on the wind more than 10 mph. I think my next boat will be v deep Lowe aluminum.

Another question you need to answer is what do you own to tow it. A glass boat is going to take a larger tow car/truck. If you have a full size pickup it is not big deal. If you have to buy a truck to pull the boat it is expensive to pull a glass boat.We typically assume a fisherman owns a full size pickup.

I would say another couple of points to look at would be storage and how long you wanna keep it. If you're on the fence but want to store it outside and keep it a long time, I'd get an alum. If you have indoor storage and plan on turning over in less than 5 years I'd get glass. That being said, my dad's Ranger I grew up on is and 1982, looks great, still gets compliments, but he has ALWAYS stored it indoors with a cover.
I have an alum 2005 Triton 176 DV Magnum with 115 Merc 4stroke. It previously belonged to two guides on here and I love it. The padded hulls of newer alums ride so nice. My boat will go 45mph on glass, is extemely quiet and sips the gas. I think it pulls heavier than my dads 16 foot glass though. I fish alot of smaller lakes by myself that don't have good docks, so I smile every time I pull it up on rocks/gravel. When I can afford a glass boat, I'll proabably make the switch, but then again if Tracker starts making the Tundra again, I might have to get one of those, they are freaking awesome.

If you like to fish on windy days (eve semi-windy) don't get an aluminum. I have a 16' aluminum and it blows around like and empty can floating on the water. Find some protected areas and of course you're fine, but mine rides really rough in choppy water as well. That said, it's a cheap boat. I paid 3k for it and as with most things in this world, you get what you pay for.

I don't live for the thump, but I sure do like it.

I have a 16' Crestliner crappie edition, handles the wind
just fine (aluminum)...Matter of fact we took it out for
my test drive in 25-30 mph winds, white capping bigtime,
I was very impressed with the ride...Go see Joe Ham over
at Advantage Marine in Sachse, he'll take you out for a
spin in Lund or Crestliner...

ya i have been looking at those, they look like great boats however i am in the 10-15k range which means i need to find a used one. i did some looking around last night and cannot really find to many used lund or crestliner. maybe that says something about the quality of the boat. nobody wants to get rid of them.

Used alums are so hard to find in this part of the country with economy like it is they sell like hotcakes.
I wish I had one of these, best of both worlds, just never caught on. Both in your price range.

I heard that too, but never from someone that owns one. I see more Trackers and older Trackers at the lake than anything else, so it's never added up to me. If you want a used Lund or Crestliner you might have to look up in the midwest, lot more of them up there. I was pretty close back in January to driving up to Walleye country to get one, but got lucky and was able to by my alum 8 hours after it was put on sale in DFW.

Ya I'm from wisconsin, and saw a few up there on boat trader last night. I may hae to pull one back with me next time.I have heard great things from one guy that owns one and another guy that said he owned several through his life said they were all junk. Then of course I have been researching them online and read that the welds are garbage. I think with anything you buy you will aklways hae someone that has had problems

I've had a tracker and now own a Lund. In my opinion, there is no comparison! The Lund is such a sturdy, safe and well-built boat. If you could find a used one, I'd definitely go that route before buying a tracker.
