Got a late start at Hubbard this morning and saw Cliffs truck so gave him a call and he told me he was out in the middle of the lake and had a school of fish to himself. Me and my buddy Donovan headed that way and by the time we got to him the boat show had landed in his area. I kept thinking about the timbers so as i left the boat show Cliff called and told me that Tyler was wearing them out in the Woods in between the 66 bridge and the 30 bridge so we went there and wouldnt you know it there were schools of huge sandies everywhere. I fished with topwaters and my friend Donovan used a rapala looking lure and we commenced to catching our limit in an hour and a half. Here is a picture of 4 of them that are being eatin right now. I have found that blackened sandbass taste real good. The trees is where it is at right now but it is stump city but a blast if you are not scared to go in there.

Proline it was good seeing you also. I am thinking of going back in the morning but with these storms all over the place I might not make it.

Thanks guys for all the reports! I bought my first boat a couple weeks ago. I have had limited success on Hubbard so far. After reading about the schools in the timbers I decided to give it a try this morning. I crossed under the bridge and new immediatly where to go (boat show). There was even a guy fishing from a jet ski. They were schooling when I pulled up around 9am. Caught fish nonstop for an hour.

When that ended I headed for the point off Robertson. Caught several fish trolling a petspoon. Caught 1 17in hybrid. smile Below is what I took home smile

Again, thanks to all for the many good reports. It really helps a novice like myself. I am usually out on Saturday and Sunday mornings. I am in a tan 14ft vhull jon. If you see me feel free to say hi.

Kalub that was me next to you after the schools had went down. I spoke to you and I was in the Lowe Aluminum deep V. I saw you killing them with your petspoon. I will say hello next time.

Super Duper! wink Good to see every one caught fish today. As usual my main intentions are big fish but its just hard to resist those splashes! laugh Did an early morning troll alone ,around the gravel pits and landed 3 hybrids with only one 20 incher and blue cat cat that went 20 inches. Seen the activity in the mid lake area and had a fun time with the spinning reel and top water(tiny torpedo) for at least an hour to my self. Not any real big fish but a good time, all were legal keepers but only kept 12 or so of the larger size. Tyler (Poppa) Called and said him and his son(matthew) was killing them in the trees north of 30, so I relayed the message to James and Co. and they finished up with a great stringer. I took a hot dog,-beer break and went back out to catch another dozen trolling along Robertson Park midday. Ended the day witha respectable limit of sandies, 2 -20 in hybrids and 2 cats around the 3lb mark. Good enough for an old wanna be. :p Gave all the fish to some friends on the dock. Big Smiles from the Dock Fisher people. wink

Hey Buddie, how was the trip? I took Kendall out yesterday to the "woods" and caught about 90 something, most on top water lures, MAN! what a blast we had.

How about that youngun? Did she have a good meet, or a great meet?

I saw you on that Jet ski and thought it was kind of cool seeing you catch sandbass as well.

rthejarman if you go under east side 30 and go north you will find the trees quick but thier not very tall kind of under the water by an inch or so, if you want to know where the trees start go just past the blasted ski boats.

If you're wondering whether there's any sandies beyond the west I-30 bridge, don't bother. I read the posts the other day - the one that says "east bridge" - then went out there yesterday & went the wrong way. boy do I feel stupid. shocked shocked

No big deal, spent a few minutes looking around, made a few casts. Had my 9yr old nephew with me & he's more into driving the boat than fishing anyway & I wouldn't let him drive around in the woods. So we rejoined the main lake boat show for a while, caught a few fish, had some fun.

If anybody noticed an old blue Kingfisher with a big yella hound on board & a guy looked like he didn't know what he was doing, that was me...stop & say hello next time.
