Who can tell me anything about lake Casablanca in Laredo. I've been wanting to go down and fish it from San Antonio but I don't know if it's worth the effort. I know a few share lunkers came out of it in 2007 and 2008 and it's fairly small (about Fayette County size). Dept Fish and Game web site doesn't give a fishing forecast for it. I've heard from one old guy here that it's a good lake but would like to have something more to go on. I think with the long cold winter here it should be in spawn/post-spawn right now. Help Please.

We were there last year about this time. We had good luck flipping jigs in the reeds and crankbaits off points.

I hired a guide on Falcon last winter and he had nothing but good things to say about it. Said you could get your arms broke this time of year in the reeds.

Where is a decent place to stay near CB? We were there several years ago and stayed in some 2 story dump. We did pretty good but not great when we fished there.

I would like to fish there and see what it is like. The only problem I have is when I get to it, I just can't make that left hand turn. Truck has a mind of its own, just keeps heading for Falcon.

I was there a few weeks ago.... the lake is way down and not many reeds in the water. Did much better last year when the water was up in the reeds quite a bit.
PM me if you want any more info....

Agree with the falcon comment. It's hard to make the drive all the way down there and not just go to Falcon. I stopped at casablanca on the way home from Falcon last year just to check it out and it looked great. I'm certain its an early in the year lake only though because its kinda small and the heat in Laredo is oppresive which has to heat that lake up into the mid to high 80s. There were tons of reeds along the back of the lake that looked great, I just didn't have the time to fish it that day.

It might be a good place to fish if you get blown off of Falcon.
