It has to be timing.

I didn't go yesterday, but I've been every Sunday for a month or so.

We're getting the sandies on topwater very early.

I don't know how the evening bite is, but the morning bite is going strong. who_knows

Nice!! well grapevine has been always good in the morning.
what tieme are you catching them?
and also in what area?
I know that in the summer around the areators, its been real good in the morning.
the sandis drive the shad out of the bubles in the hundreds and it gets pretty good, but I haven`t got any time to go in the morning.
and in the afternoon after work I haven`t got mucho luck.

Early morning, as soon as the sun hits the water.

Rumor has it (from the Bank Fishing Section) that you may be able to get into schoolies in the Murrell Park area right at sundown.

We have been catching ours anywhere from Rockledge Park to Twin Coves on both sides of the lake.

If anyone was out this weekend, maybe they can tell us if the heavy schooling action is still going on in the early morning.

I haven't fished the bubbles in a couple of years. But, the last time(s) we did it was clockwork. They would chase those shad out of the aerator area every 15 minutes headed North along the dam. That was a blast. Some pretty decent sized ones up there too. I may have to head up that way next time out.

While people are still catching them, I've noticed that the sandie action at Grapevine doesn't seem to be as good this year as it has been the past couple of years. I've been going to Lewisville instead.

Ahhhhh....this happens every year.
This time of year when the schoolies get really active, you have to weed through the little ones to get to the good ones.

Go under the schoolies for the bigger fish.

By September, all of these schoolies will just be a memory. The bigger fish will start stacking up on humps and we'll start getting reports of the good fish being caught.

Until then, enjoy the fast and furious action.

There are more boats on the lake this year. So the fish dont come to the surface as much during the day. Tey will be back when the baoting traffic slows. Trolling works good on grapevine also.

Grapevine has been good to me this year. When I get out in the kayak I usually end up with around 30 in a couple of hours. Trolling has been working the best during the day, and the sandies seem to have the same pattern for a few days in a row when it is schooling time. Close to the banks I have only picked up a few that were of keeper size but out on some of the humps I get nice ones. Lewisville has been more productive this year though.

I have been fishing mostly the North side of the lake. I fish from a Kayak and have had good luck with slabs on some of the humps and troll hell/pets and rooster tails primarily. I have found the best time on Grapevine to be during the evening hours, and they usually start to school around 8ish.

I tend to go out on the week night as it is too busy on the weekends for my tastes. I have also found that days with light wind and small wakes have produced more fish.

Let me know if this helps. I plan on hitting the south side of the lake this week to see how the activity is on that side. I always wear a maroon A&M shirt, green Kayak. If you see me out there come say hi and I will let you know how the aciton is.

I have been catching mine from murell to twin coves in 18-23 ft.

The schools have mostley small fish. I troll deep with the hell/pet, for the larger fish.

Morning or evening is good

Fishing is very good at the vine right now. I go 3-4 times a week...good luck..
