It's not at full pool cuz they have to keep letting water out because of water rights downstream. They are doing studies out there on the fish right now. The park is closed to everyone. They say it should open in the summer. It's going to be awesome! I've been out and looked at it. It's full of brush that's taller than the water level.

It certainly should produce something since it got the vast majority of the SAL fingerlings recently. I think it got something like 65,000 out of approximately 80, 000 that was available.

No way all of those SAL fingerlings should have gone to that one small (very small) lake. Would have been fine for them to get some and if they needed more fish for stocking, the lake should have received non SAL stock.

Just one more reason I am not really in favor of the SAL program anymore.

When I was at SFA back in the 90's there was always rumors of it being impounded. It ought to be another little jewel in East Tx. Too bad it isn't the 40,000 acre lake all the rumors were about....

The rumors were close. Only missed the mark by about 39,000 acres.

I'll have to disagree with you on that. But then it's only 10 miles from my house. grin

Does anybody know the motor size they are going to allow on there? I have heard all kinds of rumors about it was going to be regulated to like only 25 hp and just things like that just wondering if anybody knows the truth about it?

Latest i've heard is that they don't know if they will be doing a motor restriction or a speed restriction. Hopefully they do speed. They have said no jet skis or skiing. So that's a definite plus!

Thanks thats what I have been hearing as well, and I agree the speed restrictions, no jet skis and no skiing will be a great decison b/c there will be very little open water from what I have seen.

Should be fun once it opens. I've heard idle only restrictions. I was plesantly surprised by how much timber was left standing.

Also, down stream water rights or not, how in the world is it not full yet? It been raining cats and dogs down there all winter... Just surprising that after all the time, money, & resources dedicated to the project that they wouldn't go ahead and top her off. Oh well. Hopefully soon.
