I'm a Kansan who's been coming down to Ray Roberts for 15 years but I'm seriously considering going to Lake Ivie this year instead. Since I only get to Texas once a year I try to focus on big fish. Have caught a lot of 6 to 8 pounders at Roberts with one 11-9. Would you guys recommend Ivie over Roberts for fish 8 pounds and over?

Is there a good place to stay within 10 miles of the lake that's "boat friendly"? Appreciate any advice!!!

Give Jerry at Elm Creek a call on Ivie

He will take good care of you.

Their place is less than a mile from the boat ramp, and can set up up with anything you need to get the 8lb'er

Jerry is great people.

The motel is very boater friendly. He has a great diner, and a pretty good tackle shop.

Agree that Elm Creek is the place to stay and Jerry will take great care of you. Would highly recommend a guide for your first trip there or at least for a day or two of the trip. Jeff Walker is absolutely the best on the lake. He can't of course promise a 10+ but he will work very hard to get you on big fish and will teach you a lot about the lake and how to fish it.

Ivie is a great lake but it can also be a tough lake to fish. It has lots of big fish in it but getting them to bite can be tough at times.
