A buddy of mine fishes a lot on Lake Domingez and Lake Hidalgo up by El Fuerte. Do any of you have any experience on these lakes? $1395 per person including transportation from Los Mochis airport for a four and a half day/five night all inclusive trip. Sounds like a good deal.

I haven't heard about Dominguez in years. How has your buddy done on those lakes lately? Everybody I know goes to El Salto, Comodero, Huites, Bacarrac, Guerrero, Mateos, El Cuchillo or Agua Milpa. Curious to hear what your buddy usually catches there.

I've fished both lakes numerous times but not in the recent past. Transportation logistics were always a pain and in the more recent trips personal security became a concern.

He catches a ton of fish. There isn't the pressure as on the other more well publicized Mexican lakes. I haven't heard of many double digit fish, but it just doesn't have the number of anglers, therefore no reports. Round trip from DFW to Los Mochis is around $900.

If you know how to fish bass so well then you should learn how to book flights. Go and book a round trip from DFW to Mex and then book a round trip from mexico city to los mochis 410.00 plus taxes and no extra charge for the first or second bag. As for security this Lake is so safe no one knows about it. Plus you can fish Hildago 15 minutes away and 7 other small lakes that are all fed by the river from Huites and Hildago. The 7 small lakes are all 2500-3500 acres and crystal clear plus that is where a lot of the bass end up when the large lakes dump water to irragate the fields. It so clean and safe and you do not have to pay 500 a day to enjoy fishing. I have fished in the last year 100 days in El Salto and 35 days in these lakes. The security is no problem. Plus there are not 3000 nets to contend with. Topwater is killer here and thats where all your big bass come from. I am satisfied with 5-8 lb bass on top water. There are bass over 13 lbs in the lake. The comparison that it is dangerous is like saying I am not going to fish Lake Texoma because there is a lot of killings in Dallas. You need to know the area and the people. Have a nice night.

It is if you dont know the system or have friends in Mexico. But if you do it is a real experience and fun.

I put a post out on the hunting forum about a company called Global Rescue. It's in the outfitter's section and has the link. They will come in with a charter and medically transport you to the hospital of your choice anywhere. If you contract for the security piece they will come in and forcibly remove you from whatever is holding you up. They posted a news release about a mission team they were contracted to remove after the Haiti quake. They flew into the airport and dispatched a team. The team included an ex-Navy Seal, 2 Green berets and a couple of gentlemen no one could understand. Best of all is they're using economies of scale to drive the cost down. A trip like you describe above costs like $255.00 for the medical and security insurance. They have a yearly fee per individual of $655. They also have a family rate. Check it out.

Why the expense and risk of foreign fishing trip? The fishing at Falcon Lake matches any lake in Mexico. It has lots of guidees. There is safe lodging and great food and its in the USA.

When an old timer like me, with questionable ability, can catch nine over ten with a 13lb.2oz. and two twelves on a four day trip, it's hard not to get hooked on Mexican fishing. Being treated like royalty doesn't hurt either. If anyone tries to find me the last week of February, I'll be at Angler's Inn on Salto. I love me some Pacificos.
