 tying your own jigs

after you purchase the equipment, lead pot, a couple of molds of the jigs you use, etc...
once all that is bought, approx how much does each individual jig cost (hook, lead, powder coat, skirt and collar?
I am in the near future going to start tying my own jigs just so I have the person customization flexibility, but I was wondering how much I will be saving in the process.
just curiousity.

cheap....I buy my own heads, and the head itself is 1.50, I do not like messing with the pot, and lead, or painting....But after rattles, skirt collars, and skirt material a jig cost me about $2.30......so that is 70 cents on the actual skirt plus that 1.50 for the heads I use...I would say the average jig is 3.5, and I must say, I think mine have equal if not better components.

I buy unpainted Pro Series jig heads fron Jann's Netcraft, i make my own skirts and paint the jgheads with nail polish. nail polish is cheAp, drys fast and is very tough

the intitial investment to make your own baits might be between 200-500 depending on where you buy your supplies. Imo if you wanna make youre own ,,then make your own. dont buy other jig heads made by someone else. buy a lead melting pot a dipper some molds and do it. And finger nail polish is for girls, buy powder paint made for baits, then use clear epoxy over that. The truth is this: you cant kinda do it, either you do it the right way or go to bps and buy some already made. If your not 100% commited to making yourself the best jig you can then why make yourself a jig?

I lost my man card when Ronnie Kelly and I got scared of that bug, so I can't give my opinion on the nail polish...LOL!

I use nail polish on mine as well. The girls have some great colors. I just asked a bunch of girls for their polish that they don't use and I have a bunch of them now. Some are not colors that I like, but whatever. Use a clear coat after the polish dries. I used to paint and create my own colors, but the polish is much, much easier and stays on pretty good.
