SO GIVE ME YOUR OPINION ON USING A SMALL SWIVEL TO MAKE CHANGING CRANK BAITS QUICK AND EASY DO YOU BELIEVE IT TAKES AWAY FROM THE ACTION OF THE BAIT

I dont use a swivel but I take all the split rings off my cranks and lipless cranks and on my crankbait rod I keep a norman lures speed clip tied on that way I can just quickly change between colors and depths without tying. I havent had one pull loose I always break the line first so Im not worried about them not being strong enough and the lures action is just the same as a split ring. Heres the link to the speed clips....

I use a BPS speed clip. Works great and I haven't had any issues.

i use swivels and it might take away from the action a little but it still gets me fish, i hadnt thought of the speed clips though, thats an even better idea

Speed Clip or Swivels

Just another piece of tackle that could break.

I throw crank baits ALOT and I just cant make myself try any type of swivel. It just doent take that long to re tie except for the lighter line somedays kicks my butt. I may try it one day but I think I would like to see it work first.

Speedclips are stronger than 50# braid. But usually hooks bend out first or whatever you are hung up on gives up.

I usually fish crankbaits around stuff that tends to nick the line a lot (rocks and brushpiles)and use fairly light line except for shallow cranking so re-tying often is a good idea anyway. If you use a clip of some kind dont go forever without re tying just because you don't have to to change lures...you will eventually get your heart broken.

I've used the Norman Speed Clips for years w/o any issues, until now. I lost a real good fish in the grass this fall and the clip had straightened out. Since then I've straightened two more out just tying on a bait with one already clipped. I think these were some I bought this last summer at BPS. Bad thing is, these recent ones are now mixed with my older ones. Looks like I'll be throwing all of them away now. Hate that but I can't trust the quality anymore.

No clip or swivels for me. Tie and re-tie, it just doesn't take that long... Dan
