Anyone have any fishing report for Belton Lake? Would like to try some SM or Crappie fishing.

I went Sunday afternoon. Water's up high and dingy. Fished shallow and off the main points and didn't get a bite. Ugly for me.

Fished there last Friday with similar results. Water was about 7' high (they weren't releasing) and stained around Temple Lake Park. I fished newly flooded vegetation from the front to back of some of the coves by the dam and had a single bite on a 10" worm.

Fished Saturday daylight until 1:30pm.

We only boated 4 or 5 fish. They were 12" - 15".

I lost one that was approx. 4 lbs. and my buddy lost another that would have been the same size or maybe a little bigger. Later on I lost a smallie that was approx. 3-1/2 lbs.

We also missed several fish. We were really just enjoying the nice weather and weren't really trying that hard to boat the fish. If we had been in a tournament, we would have landed the fish.

The fishing is starting to get real good at Belton. This weekend should be awesome.....

I had been working on the baby's nursery for 7 straight days without a break to go fishing (wife is due Jan. 14th with our first child). When I finally got out to the lake on Saturday the weather was so nice and it felt so good to be out of the house that the fishing was almost secondary to just relaxing and catching up with my fishing buddy.

I guess I can't speak for my buddy, but I was playing all the fish that I hooked. Sometimes it is more fun to feel the fight of the fish than it is to hurry up and get them in the boat. I can honestly say that I was not the least bit upset about not getting those fish into the boat.

My dog was a little upset with me, though. His "job" is to grab the fish when they get in the boat. Whenever I have a fish on and it gets off before I get it into the boat he gives me that "WTF?" look.
