Any reports this week from Grapevine? I have been out there 3 times a week for the past 3 weeks and have not brought home more than 6 or less than 2 each trip. I bank fish and have not found them thick in the shallows yet. The ones I have brought home are in the 11.5 to 13 inch range. I have caught some to small but not many. Please update if you have a report.

Made my first attempt yesterday. Hadn't touched the boat since October so really just making sure it still worked. I explored, checked a brush pile I dropped last year, looked at many different coves to look shallow and found one bass, that was it. I was scheduled to go out with Guy on a guided trip on Grapevine yesterday but rescheduled as he told me it was still very slow. With warm weather today and the winds laying down Friday, I'll try again Friday. I did go all the way into Marshal Creek with the boat and noticed a half a dozen people fishing the bridge. I think I saw at least one caught while I was in that area.
Hope this helps a little, its simply too early on Grapevine but we aren't far away. I've got my trip with Guy scheduled on the 17th. Can't wait!

I haven't actually tried crappie fishing on Grapevine this year but I agree with what recentlyhooked says. They are still catching crappie 15-25 feet deep off of the marinas. I don't think they have moved shallow, yet. The water temperature Friday was 61-62 degress, not quite warm enough.

I went out yesterday afternoon and checked some of the coves on the north side that get the yearly crappie spawn...and nothing yet. But as ksutton said, they're staging deep just off the coves and will go as soon as everything is right. Remember that Grapevine is historically later with it's spawn than Lewisville. Grapevine should get going good about mid April. I'm going to Lewisville today to check. Haven't fished it for a couple weeks and it should be going strong by now.

I went out Friday 3/25 and managed 13 fish. 3 were sandies and 10 crappie. This was it for me and my Dad from 8am to 5:30pm. We fished marshal creek area. 3 crappie were caught at the bridge. The rest of the fish were caught in a ft of water. Some were caught with minnows. The rest with jig and bobber. All of the sandies and 3 close to 2lb crappie were caught this shallow. The better fishing was walking the creek fishing that shallow flat that was created from the water being up in that area. Numbers aren't that high but fish are being caught.

I was on the lake Friday afternoon. Fished several coves on the North side of lake, plus one brush pile. I tried shallow (few inches to about 2') Nothing............

I did notice that the water temperature was about 61 degrees on the surface and 57-59 degrees about 1 foot down,as measured on my trolling motor.

Guy, is probably right Grapevine is a few weeks away from turning on..........

Heard some good things about Marshall Creek, also heard about a place people call Sneaky Peak on Grapevine. Had a buddy that used to slay em from the bank in Sneaky Peaks.

well i went out to Marshall creek on sat- rain and all. found out there is water over the road that leads to the bridge- and it is waist deep. Got cold when I decided I was determined to fish. I waded across in blue jeans and tennis shoes. fished for about an hour- dang near close to hypothermia settin in. Went back to truck, stripped down and turned on the heater. Next time will bring the waders. While I was there I tried many different jigs- nothing. current was movin pretty good, and the timber wasnot there that was there last year. If you have a small two man,or tube then you can slay them when the water lays down. Another man was there fishin with minnows- nothin for him either. If I make it back this weekend I will post if they are bitin.

That would be Sneaky Pete's, not Sneaky Peak. It is basically Twin Coves Marina which I was talking about in my earlier post. They are being caught there, off of the docks, in about 20-25 feet.

Sneaky Pete's Restaurant (It was actually called Little Pete's. Sneaky Pete's is on Lewisville Lake.) no longer exists on Grapevine Lake. It is now called Saviano's On The Lake. Pretty good Italian food. They aren't open for the summer yet. I'm not sure when they will open but it can't be long.

I have it on good authority (From the owner) that Saviano's is closed for good. They sold the restaraunt.
Sal said that it was too much work for them. They had to get there way too early.

Hopefully someone will open up a good "fisherman friendly" restaraunt.

Saviano's does have some good italian food though. If you have to get your Italian fix, you can visit Saviano's in Euless on Main Street. It's just south down the street from Main Street BBQ.

Oh...and the fishin's still slow. wink

For you folks fishing the old bridge in Marshall
Creek park, There is a way to get to the old
bridge without getting wet (and you don't have
to pay). Go to mapquest and look for TW King road
in Southlake. TW King used to connect to
Marshall Creek road years ago before the COE took
over that property. You can park and walk in from the TW KING side, check it out on
DFWMAPS.com.

really???
