Never been to the lake and thinking about a road trip.
Where does eveyrone typically launch from and what are the close places to stay to the lake?

Elm creek to launch. You can stay at elm creek as well. The guys name is Jerry, has a store, cafe, etc. Anglers lodge is close as well. Anglers lodge has direct tv and the lady is very nice, she also cooks lunch and supper. Both good places, I prefer anglers due to the tv`s, personal preference.
You can also launch at concho, but there is alot of trees up there and the water is much dirtier.

I think that is Sportsman's Lodge instead of Anglers Lodge. I definately prefer Elm Creek Village over ALL others.

Elm Creek and Jerry are more accommodating for bass fisherman with sack lunches, early, early morning opennings for tournaments and the best food on the lake and the best hamburger and fries in 25 counties....besides, Jerry is a fisherman and will do anything to make your stay enjoyable including putting you on fish.

I agree with the above. Was there this last weekend and Jerry was booked. Fishing was very tough compared to what I am used to on that lake! You can't go wrong staying with Jerry though!
