I think if it is supposed to be a fun tourney, you should keep the rules to a minimum and let people enjoy themselves.

I know it's sometimes hard to have faith in people now days, but I think it would be best to just let everyone do their own thing and assume that everyone knows how to fish courteously and ethically.

If this was a professional tournament, I would feel differently, but it's just supposed to be fun.

well see i know all that but suppose you're fighting a big one up and somebody pulls into your spot and sees you're fish starts a major run and you can't stop him/her because the guys that pulled up are in your dang way....what now?

and also you need to think of it as a pro tourney, but keep it fun, as for we're fishing for cash...and if you want fun just bring your beers to the fish fry and everyone's happy...lol

i'm only speaking this way because i'm trying to get you laid back easy going guys to get a better idea of what a pro tourney will be like, and it helps you to get an understanding of where you are standing in the world of tournament angling fishermen...just some food for thought.

It just seems that the bigger picture is a TFF get together. I assume everyone coming would be friendly.

If people want to fish for money, there are other tournaments to enter.

anytime you use the word "tournament" somewhere, someone is gonna find something to start drama about. people get competitive even in "fun" situations.. just keep it lite, not too many rules, have fun!

i know that but, i personally think since it'll be only tff and we have all different levels of fishermen ranging from total newbs to expert guides, or near catfish experts...so i think we should do this and find out where we all stand amongst each other and that way it'll be interesting, but fun to see where we're at and later at the fry we can exchange techniques, spots, and get comfortable with each other and then get more advice with more of the better catfishermen...see i just want to have fun as well for i'm only seventeen, and i want this to be fun and not so complicated we can't at least relax and get to know one another...i'm sorry about the confusion i'm a usual bass tournament fisherman and this is usually how we run things, to make things not only challenging but fun and interesting as well, but y'all could have a totally different mindset on these things and that's perfectly fine, because i've never ever fished a catfish tourney before, and thought there should be some better ground rules/foundation...that's all.

It is a TFF Catfish get together first. Tourney was an afterthough. We will not add the rule.

LOL........Stevie stop worrying about rules and worry about catching..fish..it's a big lake........... and you will be fishing from the bank or in a back seat....keep it lite youngman.....and enjoy the day.....

i just was wondering how this tourney would work because i've never been to a catfish tourney...just was trying to get some thought on what we should do if a certain incident were to occur...plus i'm used to bass tourney's and they have more specific rules and i just needed some better info than what's listed for the rules.

BT and Ryno you both have great points... Ryno here's a thought about the jet fleas just do like a guy at my dads job did, if the rider gets within 20-30' of you,your lines, just have a 2.5-3oz weight tied to a flippin stick and flip it on their flea... and hope you get a nice warden...cause the guy that did this explained to the warden what had happened and the warden kicked that idiot off the lake for the day....funny but it's true....lol

just let wrangler and those who are in charge take care of any problems ....... you go and catch fish.........good luck.....
