Has anyone been on Stillhouse lately? Has the vegetation returned? Are the fish biting? Would like to go next week.

Fish were biting today. Some grass is growing but mostly in deeper water. Not much size to them but boated 20 between 10-3
My first time to ever fish this lake. Loved it!

We'll prob hit it up next weekend though. Dont wanna hit Belton too much before Tuff Man tourney. We always launch at the marina, white cobra with red strip and 150 merc!

Hey I actually caught a 3 1/2 lbr yesterday and 2 more that would have just kept amongst all the dinks. Also found out that TP&W stocked 70,000 Smallmouth fingerlings in SH last week. The first time any fish have been stocked since the year 2000.

70,000 fingerlings...I hope some of them make it.SH will be interesting in about 5 years when they start to mature and reproduce.Maybe I'll even have a boat by then!

I actually spoke with a TPWD worker that was there when they were stocked. They stocked advance fingerlings so hopefully they have a higher survival rate than the smaller fingerlings. Stillhouse still has some big smallmouth but very hard/rare to catch now. Hope it produces smallmouth like belton soon

Years ago, I would catch a smallie every now and then back when the slot was 18" and it seemed like every one I would catch would be 17 3/4" but after the length got lowered to 14" I hardly caught one since. Every once in a while I'll catch one about 12" or so. I dont know what happened to the Smallies on SH but I do know it was getting stocked every year for several years until the year 2000. The TPWD website shows what lakes are stocked with any species and what year it was stocked. My two best smallies on Stillhouse are a 3 1/2 and a 3. I would LOVE to catch a 5+ lbr. I am glad to hear about the "advanced" fingerlings Javelin. Hopefully that will help the population. About 10 years ago I read some fishin mag that was talking about that dude that has all the Smallmouth records in TX and at the time he thought Stillhouse would produce the first 8 pounder in Texas but for some reason the population just petered out.
