As soon as a good cold front drops the temperature pretty good. They will start stagging in passes.

Well, being that we are so close to all the chemical plants, I am sure it won't be long before all the the fish grow legs and start cursing us.

Flounder started to moved into the flat/pass since late September just not in great number, but like everyone on here are saying. They will start to come in when the temperature drop and they will coming in great numbers.

So when they come in... do you have to go gig em? Or catch them on a rod? I havent fished for Flounder but Ill be down in Freeport next week and with the cool weather this past weekend... sounds like I might try em out.

Catching them! Ha! Yes, that is the hard part. I was told when you drop your line to the bottom, when you feel your first bump, do not try to set the hook. They will nibble at first. You go and try to set the hook, and you lose your flounder. Wait a few seconds, maybe a small pull. Even at that, I have pulled my line in thinking my bait was gone, got the bait to the boat and surprise, there was a flounder on it. MY QUESTION - HAHA - CAN YOU USE A GUN, LOL JOKING!

When I go flounder fishing I used a stifer rod.It gives me a better feel if there is a flounder on the end of the line and not a rockfish.Using a thiner rod with lots of action doesn't
give me a better hookset and feel. Also every year I end up losing a couple. It's a given thing.Them flounder can be tricky
at times.

take a spec rig with a pink skirt and chartruese body and cut it off of the mono. Tie that to the end of some 20# Power Pro braid and tip it with a small piece of fresh dead shrimp body and very slowly drag it across the bottom. When you feel it load up just raise your rod tip from 9 to 12 position and give it a slight twitch once you got it at 12. Flounder have a realatively small mouth and if you go to settin the hook on them like a 3# Bass your gona lose more than you land. We are headed to the North Jetty this weekend to see if we can box a few Flounder and Reds. Good Luck & TIGHT LINES!!!!
