I was wanting to take my wife and grandkids to Lake Tawakoni State Park.

Is this park a safe area to camp with family?

The reason I asked is because I heard one person "bad mouth" the park saying that "undesirables" were in attendance there.

I think this person is misinformed or just spouting off but thought I would check with someone that has actually been there.

We will be camping in a tent at one of the sites with water and electricity.

Thanks for any feedback.

Badly misinformed! ALL of the state parks (including Tawakoni) have been wonderful, clean, great places to take your family.

Don't let a naysayer get you down. I'd be quite willing to camp there by myself in a tent.

It's a nice park and as safe as any other State Park. I have had no issues with the park or it's campers for the most part, the park staff however is a different story. Tawakoni hands down has the most rude, incompetent and surly park staff I have ever encountered and I have been to over thirty state parks.

This might be what the person was talking about when he described his dissatisfaction with the park.

Ever since the lady took over at the park, she isn't friendly towards tournament fishermen using the ramp even though we pay our entrance fees like everyone else. We fill the boat parking lot up.

Thats the issue to a tee. Now, parking your vehicle at one of the public ramps, thats risky. Add that alot of ramps are unusable late summer due water levels, that adds to it.
