Crappie takes the cake in TX. I don't think a sandie is even in the same league in taste. Not that sandies are bad tasting.

Like the difference between dark chocolate and creamy smooth white chocolate. Yes I love chocolate.

Who can say ? I hear some people prefer hamburger to filet mignon. People who like fishy tasting fish don't care for crappie. Most people I know prefer crappie to any other freshwater fish you can name. good luck MO

Man, once you taste a crappie, you'll probably never eat another sand bass.

Fresh sandbass well prepared is good eating, but you really can't beat crappie for taste.
Although I put bluegills & other sunfishes right up there in the same category. It just takes more of 'em to make a meal. And you can't fillet 'em. And people will laugh at you behind your back if you fish for 'em.

I prefer crappie to all other freshwater fish. I probably eat more white bass because it is versatile. I wont "try" a recipe with my beloved crappie but I do my sand bass all the time.
