Earlier this week I read a post about someone looking for a crappie light that was battery powered. I was at Academy today and they had a light powered by 3 AAA batteries. It had a string/cord that could be attached to a buoy or a weight. It did require an extra weight to keep it pointed down. Big thing though is that you don't have it connected to the boat. I'm sure this isn't big news to most but I thought it might help out the guy looking for a solution.

I have one of those and used it several times, puts out a pretty good light and the battery power lasts a long time. And yes, I did catch fish around it. Also used it at a couple of marinas in the winter, dropped it down in different slips and in a larger well area, worked pretty good. Caught more where the light was than in dark water at night.

I want to say around 20 +/-. Unfortunately I didn't really look at the price. I just saw it and thought about you.

I have one of those lights i purchased a couple weeks ago and it seems to work pretty well, only had a chance to use it twice. The price was around 15-20 dollars at academy.

Looked at them yesterday. $16.99 w/ batteries included. Says it takes 25oz of weight to sink it. Seems like you could sink 2-3 to the depth you want to fish in an area, run a string from each up to one of those lighted bobbers and just move from 1 to the other all night.

Try the Crappi Candle if you want a great light run from just one battery.

HotMod has one of those and he attached it to the top of the frame of an Umbrella net. Heck of an Idea!
