I'm running down to POC this weekend to go visit a good buddy of mine. I'm going to be taking mine and my sister's kayaks and hope to get us both on the POC Paddling Trails to do some fishing. My buddy has never been in a kayak before and I have never been on the trails before. Do y'all have any tips for fishing POC or just any general tips about the area, tidal conditions, etc.?

We will moslty fish with artificials, but I may bring a small bait tank just in case.

Thanks!

Yeah, I've been all over that site. I was just hoping to find out how the fish were biting and if there was anything in particular that I needed to be aware of.

Last weekend the trout were over shell. Even a little shell made a difference. We used topwaters early. You may want to try a cajun thunder or similar popping cork and a 1/8 oz jig head with a gulp shrimp. We didn't but I think if we had we would have hooked more fish. Be careful when you cross the intercoastal. Some of the power boats just don't watch. Also it's tough to get shrimp in POC this time of year but, the shrimpers usually come in about 3pm on saturday.
