I George Roberts, President Burleson Bass Club
would like to recognize two of our members of The Burleson Bass Club..Stell Gillespie and
Frank Smith. Our Club had a tournament on Cedar Creek Lake on this past Sunday, May 31. I recieve this following letter from a land owner on the lake. I would like to past it own..

Hello,

I wanted to take a little time to tell you folks a little story about two of your members this weekend. I have a home on Cedar Creek Lake and was there this weekend doing a little work and playing a bit. I was hot and decided to take the boat out on the lake for a little cooling off and maybe catch a few fish.. When I went to start the boat I found that my cranking battery was a little low and I had to put a charge on it before it would crank. Now I knew better than to go running all over the lake because my luck is lets just say "if it can happen it will happen to me". I idled around a bit and trolled real close to the cove that I live in and after a few minutes I made my way back close to my boat dock and then I turned off the motor just to see if it would start again and it did so now I was feeling confident that I could venture out to one of my spots to try to catch a few fish so I made my way a couple miles to the other side of the lake close to the Caney Creek Bridge. When I pulled back the throttle to slow the speed of the boat down the motor died and guess what? It would not restart. I looked around and saw no-one insight except jet skiers. I pulled out my oar and started paddling to the nearest boat dock hoping that I would find someone there that could give me a jump. after about 30 minutes of paddling I was within 100 yards of a boat dock and I saw a couple of fishermen fishing their way out of a cove, they spotted me right away and stopped fishing right then and there to come over and offer assistance. I explained that I was just trying to get to the nearest boat dock but they offered to take the time out of their Tournament fishing day to lend me a hand and tow me all the way back to my home. These two men were Stell Gillespie and Either John or Bobby Smith. I want to say Thank You again to these gentlemen for taking the time to help someone out. I hope that you would recognize them at your next meeting and please let them know that if ever they are on Cedar Creek Lake and need anything they know where my home is and I would also like to give them my cell number . If these two men are an indicator of the caliber of folks in your club then I have to say that you have a great group of folks.

Sincerely,
Charles

These two guys just paid it forward. Good things happen to good people and you should be proud to have them in you club.

I'm glad this is one of the first threads I came across since I joined the group a bit ago. I was just talking to a friend yesterday about buying a little boat and wanting to check out tournament fishing. He lives in Burleson and told me I should check out their (Burleson's) bass club. Sounds like a good group of people. I guess once I find that little aluminum dream boat I will have to start fishing with'em.

Good to see a story about a happy lake land owner for once. Most of the time all we read on here is how the dock and land owners around the lakes hate fisherman. Way to go gentleman and ATABOY to you
