Okay...a couple of examples of discrimination on the part of fish recently. A few weeks ago, took my wife out to LOP and stopped between the two Brushy creek swimming areas to fish. My wife picks up her pole and proceeds to toss a white and silver rattletrap right up to the tree line into about 1 foot of water. After here second cast, she turns to me and asks, "Is this lure supposed to be for shallow water or deep water?" As I began to tell her that I thought it was better for deeper water, she latches onto what turns out be the first of 3, yes 3...15"+ crappie in about 10 minutes. What could I say after that? Then to make thing worse on my confidence as a fisherman, took my wife, daughter and niece to a pond on my parents property this past Sunday afternoon. Nothing seemed to be biting for the first 30 minutes or so, so I tied on a white/redhead feather jig and set it about 18" deep with a cork for my niece. A few minutes she hooks something and it snaps her line right at the pier. So she says "I need another jig so I can catch that fish again and get my first jig back." I explained to her that that particular fish would not likely bite again for a while. Not 5 minutes later, she catches a 2lb. bass with, you guessed it...that stupid white/redheaded jig and a foot of line hanging out of it's mouth... So, should I sell all my fishing stuff and take up golf?

My wife out fishes me sometimes. Nothing like that has ever happened. Golf sounds like a good idea to me.

I think they might prefer women. About 7 out of 10 trips the wife out catches me. She has even skunked me more than once. Although she might catch more numbers, I tend to catch bigger fish. What really gets me is that I'm in the front of the boat working the trolling motor and SERIOUSLY trying to catch fish. I look back at her to see how she's doing and it looks to me like all she is doing is dragging a plastic worm behind the boat through water I have already fished. Next thing you know she is setting the hook on a fish that didn't bite ME! Happens all the time. But I still take her fishing! Of course it is nearly impossible to get the truck/boat out of the drive way without her being in the truck.
Don't sell your fishing stuff. Just enjoy being out with your favorite girls.

You could just be her guide and reap the benefits of that if you know what I mean. Maybe some of that mojo will rub off on you!!

Notice the "sleeping, just dragging, hanging over side" techniques...sounds a lot like what we would call "dead sticking" and it works. I catch myself fishing way too fast much of the time, the girlfriend reminds me to take it easier. Often they want a slooooooow hand.

Take up golf???????
You would be better off to hire a psychiatrist, drink some beer at the ramp, and fish left handed.
Unless of course, you're Phil Mickelson.

...but then there's that whole fishing-at-the-golf-course thing. Hmmm...

Wasn't it a woman that came up with the "wacky" rig for plastics? I think the story went like the female of an outing was catching all the bass. The "pro's" that had taken the woman out couldn't catch anything and were wondering what she was doing different. As it turns out, she didn't know any of the usual ways to rig a plastic, so she just stuck the hook straight through the middle. It could be a myth, but it's a great story! Steven

Well the wife out fishes me most trips, but I do miss some while removing her fish, baiting her hook, replacing her tackle after a snagg..........
